In what fans are calling “the best news we could hope for,” the Pittsburgh Pirates have officially announced that legendary former manager Jim Leyland is returning to the organization as a Senior Coaching Advisor.

Leyland, widely regarded as one of the greatest managers in Pirates history, led the team from 1986 to 1996 and was at the helm during the team’s last golden era, guiding them to three consecutive NLCS appearances from 1990 to 1992.

Now, nearly three decades later, the 80-year-old Hall of Famer is coming home.
