TOUCHDOWN FEW MINUTES AGO: Toronto Blue Jays’ captain Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has officially filed for divorce from his wife, Nathalie,

according to sources close to the couple. The split reportedly comes after “irreconcilable differences,” though neither party has publicly confirmed the reasons.

Guerrero Jr., one of the franchise’s cornerstones and a face of the team, is said to be deeply saddened by the decision but committed to handling matters with respect. A representative for him issued a short statement:

“Every marriage deserves peace and dignity,” the statement reads. “We are working through this in private, but we ask for understanding and respect for our family during this time.”

Nathalie, known for her work with the VG27 Foundation, has not made a public response as of yet. The foundation, which the couple co-founded, supports youth and families through education, sports, and health initiatives — and it’s unclear whether her involvement will change.

Insiders suggest the divorce could have major implications not just personally but for Guerrero Jr.’s public image. The Blue Jays’ star recently signed a 14-year, $500 million extension with Toronto, making him one of the highest-paid players in MLB. (The Sun)

If the divorce is confirmed, it would mark a major shift for one of baseball’s most beloved young stars — but also a reminder that even the most successful athletes face deeply human challenges.
