TOUCH DOWN FEW MINUTE AGO: Brisbane Broncos (NRL) current Head coach Michael ‘Madge’ Maguire has been suspended totally from (NRL) Sport after testing positive for…see more

In one of the strangest cross-sport mix-ups ever reported, Brisbane Broncos head coach Michael “Madge” Maguire has been “totally suspended” from NBA Sport after allegedly testing positive for “dangerously high levels of coaching intensity” — despite the minor detail that he has absolutely no involvement with the NBA.

League insiders claim the confusion began when an NBA analytics intern accidentally uploaded a file labeled MADGE_INTENSITY_REPORT.xlsx into the league’s anti-doping database. The system automatically flagged it as a biological test, triggering an instant suspension.

NBA’s Official (and Confused) Statement

The NBA scrambled to respond:

“We appear to have suspended an NRL coach for being too intense.
Our system determined that his passion, volume, and eye-contact levels exceeded NBA safety thresholds.
We apologise to Mr. Maguire, who is, as far as we know, very much a rugby league coach.”

NRL’s Reaction

The NRL released a lighthearted response:

“Maguire is absolutely clear to continue coaching.
If intensity was illegal, he would’ve been banned halfway through his first halftime speech.”

Maguire Speaks Out

When informed of his unexpected NBA suspension, Maguire reportedly laughed:

“Suspended from the NBA?
Mate, I’ve never even coached basketball — unless you count yelling at my kids in the driveway.”

Fans React Instantly

Social media erupted with jokes:

  • “Madge banned from the NBA before Ben Simmons this time.”
  • “Broncos now favourites to win the NBA Eastern Conference.”
  • “Someone give him a clipboard and let him coach the Lakers.”
