In a heartfelt and emotional reflection, professional snooker legend Mark Williams has shared a touching story about the moment he first met the woman who would later become such an important part of his life — Joanne Dent.
According to the three-time world champion, the beginning of their story was far from what he expected.
“When I first met Joanne Dent, I’ll admit she wasn’t what I expected,” Williams revealed with a smile. “At that time, my mind was completely on snooker and the game. I wasn’t really looking for anything else in life apart from focusing on my career.”
The snooker icon explained that during that period he was fully dedicated to competing at the highest level in the sport, representing Wales and chasing titles across the global snooker stage, including events organized by World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association.
But everything began to change when Joanne entered his life.
“She was different,” Williams continued. “She had this spark about her. Joanne Dent was confident, full of energy, and she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. That immediately caught my attention.”
At first, the legendary player admitted he wasn’t sure where the connection would lead. His schedule was packed with tournaments, training sessions, and travel across the professional snooker circuit. Yet every time they spoke, he found himself increasingly drawn to her personality.
“At the time, I didn’t know how things would go,” he said. “But the more I got to know her, the more I realized how special she really is.”
