VANCOUVER — A monumental moment in Canucks history is set to unfold as the franchise announces plans to unveil a statue in honor of captain and star defenceman Quinn Hughes outside General Motors Place (commonly known today as Rogers Arena).

Widely regarded as one of the greatest defencemen in Vancouver Canucks history, Hughes has redefined the blue line with his dazzling skating, elite playmaking, and record-breaking production. Since becoming team captain, he has led by example both on and off the ice, culminating in a Norris Trophy-winning season and multiple team records for points by a defenceman.

“This is about celebrating a player who changed the culture of our team,” said Canucks President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford. “Quinn Hughes is the embodiment of leadership, skill, and Canucks pride.”

The statue will be placed in the arena’s plaza, joining the legacy of Vancouver sports icons. Fans are already buzzing about the design, which is said to capture Hughes in his signature dynamic stride, head up and ready to deliver a pinpoint pass.

A special unveiling ceremony is planned next month, with teammates, family, Canucks alumni, and thousands of supporters expected to attend.
