The San Francisco Giants have made a major splash ahead of the 2025 season, officially announcing that star third baseman Rafael Devers has signed a four-year, $53 million contract extension that will keep him in orange and black through the 2027 season.

The deal includes an eye-popping $49.65 million signing bonus and is fully guaranteed at $53 million, with an average annual salary of $13.25 million. The agreement underscores the Giants’ commitment to solidifying their lineup around Devers’ power bat and veteran presence as they look to return to postseason contention.

Devers, 28, has long been regarded as one of the most fearsome hitters in baseball, known for his prodigious home-run power and run-producing ability. After several successful seasons with the Boston Red Sox before joining the Giants, Devers has continued to be a consistent offensive force on the West Coast.

Team president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi praised the deal in a press release:
