The Baltimore Orioles have officially revealed plans to build a bronze statue honoring their iconic two-way forward Star Aleksander Barkov, with construction on the statue facing the team’s main plaza entrance.

In a surprising and unprecedented move bridging two sports worlds, the Orioles announced Monday that the life-sized bronze monument will celebrate Barkov’s leadership, work ethic, and impact as an “athlete’s athlete.” Despite playing professional hockey with the Florida Panthers, Barkov has become a popular sports figure in Baltimore through charitable collaborations with local foundations and high-profile appearances at Orioles games.
