The professional snooker world has been rocked by a shocking development after one of the sport’s biggest stars, Judd Trump, was officially suspended from several supporting and promotional activities following a positive test during a recent routine screening.
According to early reports released by officials connected to the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA), the attacking, high-scoring cueman returned an adverse analytical result during a standard compliance test conducted ahead of an upcoming tournament. The governing body confirmed that the result triggered an immediate provisional suspension from off-table appearances and supporting engagements while the matter is reviewed.
Sources close to the investigation say the test was part of the sport’s regular integrity and health monitoring program. Officials emphasized that the suspension is a precautionary step while a full investigation determines the circumstances surrounding the result.
In a brief statement, Trump expressed shock over the situation and insisted he would cooperate fully with the authorities.
“I’m extremely surprised by the outcome of the test. I have always respected the rules of the sport and will work closely with the relevant bodies to clarify what happened,” he said.
The WPBSA added that Trump has the right to request further analysis and provide evidence as part of the disciplinary process. Until the review is completed, he will remain temporarily withdrawn from promotional and supporting activities linked to professional snooker events.
Fans across the snooker community have reacted with disbelief, given Trump’s reputation as one of the most electrifying players of his generation. Known for his aggressive attacking style and spectacular break-building, the English star has been a major figure on the tour for more than a decade and a champion at the prestigious World Snooker Championship.
