Excitement swept through Target Field today as Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli made a stunning announcement: Hall of Famer and Twins legend Rod Carew is officially returning to the organization in a new off-field role as the team’s Senior Advisor for Hitting Development and Cultural Excellence.

Baldelli, speaking at a packed press conference ahead of the Twins’ home stand, described Carew’s return as “a monumental moment” for the franchise.

“Rod Carew is not only one of the greatest hitters of all time—he’s one of the greatest Twins of all time,” Baldelli said. “To have him back in the organization, working with our hitters, mentoring young talent, and shaping the culture of this team, is nothing short of historic.”

Carew, 79, spent 12 of his 19 Major League seasons with the Twins, earning seven AL batting titles and cementing his legacy as one of the purest hitters in baseball history. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991.

In his new role, Carew will:
