A Vision of Home and Hope

The initiative, named “Homeplate for All”, will break ground later this year in East Baltimore. Designed in partnership with city officials and nonprofit housing developers, the project will include:

• 200 permanent supportive housing units for families and individuals transitioning out of homelessness
• 300 overnight shelter beds with wraparound services such as mental health counseling, job training, and addiction recovery
• A community kitchen, medical clinic, and youth resource center on-site

Henderson’s donation is reportedly the largest single private contribution to a homelessness project in Maryland’s history.

Henderson, only 24, has become a household name in Major League Baseball for his performance on the field. But it’s his work off the field that’s now capturing national attention.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde praised Henderson’s character:
