For the second straight game, the Reds managed just one run, with their bats going cold against a dominant Brewers pitching staff. Milwaukee starter Freddy Peralta pitched seven strong innings, striking out eight while allowing only four hits and one walk. The Reds’ lone run came in the top of the sixth inning off a solo homer by Elly De La Cruz — his 12th of the season — which stood as one of the few bright spots in an otherwise bleak night.

Meanwhile, the Brewers’ offense came alive early and often. Christian Yelich led the charge with three RBIs, while rookie phenom Jackson Chourio added a two-run blast in the fourth to break the game wide open. Reds starter Andrew Abbott struggled with command, lasting just 4.1 innings and giving up six earned runs on nine hits.

The loss drops Cincinnati to 28-34 on the season and raises more questions about their inconsistent offense, which now ranks near the bottom of the National League in team batting average and runs scored. Manager David Bell acknowledged the slump postgame, saying, “We’re not getting the timely hits, and we’re putting too much pressure on our pitching. We’ve got to figure this out soon.”
