BREAKING NEWS: Excitement Erupts at Great Amerant Bank Arena as Former Panthers Coach Joel Quenneville Returns as Senior Coaching Advisor
Hockey fans across South Florida are buzzing with excitement as the Florida Panthers announced the return of one of the most iconic figures in franchise history. Former head coach and NHL legend Joel Quenneville has officially rejoined the organization — this time as a Senior Coaching Advisor.
The announcement came early Friday morning during a surprise press conference at the Great Amerant Bank Arena, where team executives, players, and fans gathered to welcome Quenneville back to the Panthers family.
“It feels great to be back,” Quenneville said with a smile. “This organization has grown tremendously, and I’m thrilled to be part of its continued journey toward greatness. I’m here to support the coaching staff, share my experience, and help the team in any way I can.”
Quenneville, who previously coached the Panthers from 2019 to 2021, led the team through a transformative period, helping shape the foundation for what would become one of the most competitive rosters in the NHL. His return is being viewed by many as both a symbolic and strategic move by the organization.
Panthers’ general manager Bill Zito expressed his enthusiasm, calling Quenneville’s return “a major win for the entire organization.”
“Joel’s track record speaks for itself,” Zito said. “His experience, leadership, and understanding of the game are unmatched. Having him back in an advisory role brings incredible value to our coaching staff and players.”
Fans at the arena erupted in cheers as Quenneville was introduced on stage, many wearing his signature mustache-themed T-shirts from his previous tenure.
While his new role will not involve direct bench duties, Quenneville will work closely with the Panthers’ coaching team, providing strategic insight, player development guidance, and mentorship to younger staff members.
The Panthers are currently enjoying a strong season, and the addition of Quenneville is expected to further boost the team’s morale and competitive edge.
