BREAKING NEWS: Steve Kerr Signs Contract Extension with Golden State Warriors Through 2026

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, who has guided the franchise to four NBA championships since taking the helm in 2014, has officially signed a contract extension that will keep him with the team through the end of the 2026 season, the organization announced today.

Kerr, widely regarded as one of the most successful and respected coaches in modern basketball, made the announcement during a press conference at the Chase Center.

“Golden State has been my home for over a decade,” Kerr said. “I’m grateful to continue leading this incredible group of players, coaches, and staff as we strive to remain at the top of the league. The culture we’ve built here is something special, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”

Under Kerr’s leadership, the Warriors have transformed into a modern NBA dynasty, capturing titles in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022, and making six NBA Finals appearances. Known for his player-friendly approach, innovative offensive schemes, and emphasis on team chemistry, Kerr has earned widespread praise for maintaining the Warriors’ competitive edge even as the roster has evolved over the years.

Warriors General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. praised the move, calling it a “natural step” in keeping stability within the organization.

“Steve’s impact goes far beyond wins and losses,” Dunleavy said. “He’s a true leader who represents the values of the Golden State Warriors both on and off the court. Extending his contract ensures we’ll continue to benefit from his vision and leadership.”

With the extension in place, Kerr is set to continue working closely with stars Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, as well as the next generation of Warriors talent. The team hopes to make another deep playoff run this upcoming season as they seek a fifth championship under Kerr’s direction.
