In an inspiring show of community support, NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has launched the Antetokounmpo Foundation this week in partnership with the Milwaukee Bucks, bringing both hope and tangible support to local children and families in need.

The Foundation kicked off its first major initiative by donating $18,000 in scholarships and providing hundreds of backpacks filled with school supplies to underserved youth across the Milwaukee area.

“I know if I had this kind of support growing up, it would have made a huge difference,” Giannis said during the launch event. “This is about giving kids a real chance — in the classroom, in life, and in their future.”

Held at a local community center, the event drew hundreds of families, fans, and volunteers, all eager to witness the launch of what many are calling a game-changing initiative for Milwaukee’s youth. The Bucks organization also had players and staff on hand to distribute backpacks, sign autographs, and inspire the kids with stories of perseverance, hard work, and education.

Giannis, who has long spoken about his humble beginnings and the challenges he faced growing up in Greece, emphasized the importance of education and community support. “Basketball gave me a platform,” he said, “but education opens doors for everyone.”

The Antetokounmpo Foundation plans to continue investing in educational and community-based programs throughout the Milwaukee region and beyond. In addition to scholarships and school supplies, future initiatives will include mentoring programs, youth sports clinics, and partnerships with local schools and non-profits.

Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson praised the effort, calling it “a shining example of what leadership and heart can do when they come together for the community.”
