 In an extraordinary act of generosity and social responsibility, Milwaukee Bucks shooting guard Porter Jr. has donated his entire $12.9 million NBA performance bonus and recent sponsorship earnings to a local initiative aimed at combating homelessness in the city.

The funds will be used to develop 150 permanent supportive housing units and provide 300 emergency shelter beds, offering both immediate relief and long-term solutions for hundreds of Milwaukee residents currently facing housing insecurity.

“I’ve seen the effects of homelessness firsthand growing up,” Porter Jr. said in a heartfelt statement at a press conference earlier today. “I knew that if I ever had the opportunity to give back in a big way, I would. This isn’t just a donation — it’s a promise to the people of Milwaukee that they haven’t been forgotten.”

The initiative, titled “HomeCourt Milwaukee,” is a partnership between the Bucks organization, the City of Milwaukee, and several non-profit housing organizations. With Porter Jr.’s contribution, the project is now fully funded and expected to break ground later this year.

Mayor Cavalier Johnson praised the young athlete, calling the donation “one of the most impactful personal contributions in the city’s recent history.”

“This is what leadership looks like,” the mayor said. “Porter Jr. has turned a game-changing season on the court into life-changing action off the court.”

Porter Jr., 25, has become not only a rising star in the NBA but also a symbol of hope in the Milwaukee community. Known for his humble beginnings and dedication to youth mentorship, he’s long been involved in community outreach — but this move elevates his impact to a new level.

The housing units will be built on Milwaukee’s north side and are designed with wraparound services, including mental health support, career counseling, and addiction recovery programs. The shelter portion of the facility will offer year-round beds, meals, and social services.
