Basketball fans in the Big Apple have reason to celebrate today, as New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson has officially been named the winner of the 2025 Jerry West Award, presented annually by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to the nation’s top point guard.
Brunson’s historic season saw him average over 26 points and 7 assists per game, leading the Knicks to a deep playoff run and earning a reputation as one of the NBA’s most clutch performers. His late-game heroics and leadership have drawn comparisons to some of the game’s greatest closers, solidifying his status as the centerpiece of the Knicks’ championship ambitions.
“This means a lot to me,” Brunson said in a statement. “I want to thank my teammates, coaches, the Knicks organization, and especially the fans who have supported us through everything. Winning the Jerry West Award is an incredible honor, and I’m going to keep pushing to bring a title to New York.”
The award, named after NBA legend Jerry West, is given to the point guard who best demonstrates excellence in scoring, playmaking, leadership, and all-around impact on the game.
