The Indiana Pacers have taken a historic step in honoring one of the greatest players in franchise history. According to an official team announcement, the Pacers have elevated Reggie Miller’s status within the organization, bestowing upon him a permanent role as a “Franchise Pillar,” a new designation created to recognize individuals whose contributions have transcended the game.
This recognition comes decades after Miller’s retirement, but his influence on the team, city, and league remains as powerful as ever. The five-time NBA All-Star and Hall of Famer spent his entire 18-year career with the Pacers, becoming the face of the franchise and a symbol of loyalty, excellence, and clutch performance.
“There would be no Indiana Pacers as we know them without Reggie Miller,” said Pacers owner Herb Simon. “He carried this team through its most iconic moments, inspired generations of fans, and continues to be an ambassador for the game. This is more than an honor — it’s a statement about his legacy.”
Miller’s status as a “Franchise Pillar” includes several new honors:
A permanent seat at executive roundtables for key franchise decisions.
A new statue planned outside Gainbridge Fieldhouse, set for unveiling in 2026.
A legacy fund in his name supporting youth basketball and community initiatives across Indiana.
Annual “Miller Legacy Nights” during the regular season to celebrate his most memorable moments.
Miller, now a well-regarded NBA analyst, expressed deep gratitude. “This means everything. Indiana isn’t just where I played — it’s home,” Miller said during a special press conference. “I never chased championships elsewhere. I stayed because I believed in this team and this city. To know the feeling was mutual all these years later — I’m humbled.”
