Fans of Emiliano Martínez and Aston Villa were left smiling after the goalkeeper shared a heartfelt story about how his relationship with Brazilian futsal star Amanda ‘Mandinha’ Gama began.
According to Martínez, the beginning of their connection was not what he expected.
“When I first met Amanda ‘Mandinha’ Gama, I’ll admit she wasn’t what I expected. My mind was fully on football and I wasn’t looking for anything else,” Martínez revealed during a recent interview.
The Argentine World Cup–winning goalkeeper explained that life at the top level of football often leaves little room for relationships. But something about Mandinha immediately caught his attention.
“She was different. She had this spark about her. She was confident, full of energy, and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind.”
Martínez said that at first he wasn’t sure how things would develop, but as they spent more time together, he began to realize just how special she truly was.
“The more I got to know her, the more I realized how special she is. She understands the pressure of being an athlete, she supports me through the highs and the tough moments, and she always keeps me grounded.”
Now, the Aston Villa star says their bond has grown stronger than ever. He described Mandinha as someone who brings balance and joy to his life away from the pitch.
“She makes me laugh, she pushes me to be better, and she reminds me there’s more to life than just football. I’m lucky to have her.”
