The captain of the Sydney Roosters recently opened up about the early days of their relationship, admitting that when they first met, he wasn’t expecting anything serious.
“When I first met Maria Glinellis, I’ll admit she wasn’t what I expected,” Tedesco said with a smile. “My mind was fully on footy and I wasn’t really looking for anything else at that time.”
Like many elite athletes competing in the demanding environment of the National Rugby League, Tedesco explained that his primary focus had always been on improving his game and leading his team on the field. Relationships, he admitted, were not at the front of his mind.
But Maria quickly changed that.
“But Maria was different,” he continued. “She had this spark about her. She was confident, full of energy, and she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. I really respected that. She brought this positive energy that just made everything feel lighter.”
Tedesco explained that at first he wasn’t sure where things might lead, but spending more time together made him realize just how special she truly was.
“At the time, I wasn’t sure how things would go,” he said. “But the more I got to know her, the more I realized how special she is. She understands the pressures that come with the game and she’s always there supporting me.”
Now, the Roosters superstar says Maria has become one of the most important people in his life.
“Now she’s not just my partner — she’s my biggest supporter and someone who keeps me grounded,” Tedesco added. “Through the highs and the tough moments, she’s always been there. I’m incredibly lucky to have her beside me.”
