The St. Louis Cardinals found a uniquely unforgettable way to honor star third baseman Nolan Arenado after he reached a major career milestone — and the celebration has fans buzzing across the baseball world.

Following Arenado’s 400th career home run, which he launched into Big Mac Land earlier this week at Busch Stadium, the Cardinals unveiled a permanent tribute unlike anything seen before in franchise history: a custom bronze glove monument — life-sized and detailed to match Arenado’s signature Rawlings model — now stands in foul territory near third base inside the stadium, just steps from the very spot where he’s made countless Gold Glove–worthy plays.

The surprise was revealed during a special pregame ceremony Thursday night, with teammates, coaches, and family in attendance. The crowd erupted as the cover was pulled back, revealing a plaque inscribed: “Nolan Arenado — The Standard at the Hot Corner.”

“I’m speechless,” Arenado said, clearly moved. “To have something like this at Busch, in front of these fans, in this city — it means everything to me.”

Cardinals President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak called the tribute “a symbol of Nolan’s relentless excellence, passion for defense, and leadership both on and off the field.” Arenado, an 11-time Gold Glove winner and perennial All-Star, has become a cornerstone of the Cardinals since arriving in a blockbuster trade from Colorado in 2021.

The commemorative glove joins other iconic installations around Busch Stadium, including statues of franchise legends like Bob Gibson, Stan Musial, and Lou Brock — placing Arenado firmly in elite company.

Fans can view the monument during stadium tours and game-day visits, with an augmented reality feature in the works that will allow visitors to relive some of Arenado’s most jaw-dropping plays on their smartphones.

Arenado’s milestone and the tribute come at a pivotal time for the Cardinals, who are in the thick of the NL Central race and leaning heavily on their veteran leader as they make a postseason push.
